Coordinating Yarns

I found this beautiful bulky Bernat Soft Boucle and selected some TLC navy, lilac and red to see what I could do.

The next 4 hats are the results.

Be careful using the bulky Bernat where you need to cinch up tightly. It will break easily.

I did a terrible job on the brim of this hat so I sewed on some animal beads which can barely be seen. BB likes it anyway.

May Baskets

BB approves.  I-cord flowers and a paper cone with I-cord handles to hang on door knobs. I will make several of these and surprise the neighborhood on May Day.

Toboggan Hat

The Toboggan Hat pattern is on the Lion Brand website.    This is a great way to use up yarn. It is about 2 feet long counting the pom pom. You could probably carry your sack lunch inside the tail.

Study in Black

There are a zillion combinations you can knit with black yarn. I bought some basic Vanna White black, checked my stash for different colors and here are some ideas.

All black with funny fur and 3 snappy buttons on the brim. It came out very cute.

This hat combines black with a nice Red Heart yarn. It has little gold and silver flecks.

Here I mixed orange in with the black for my Oregon State friend.

The white, grey and black hat is made using 2 Vanna White yarns.

Black and white checks jump out at you. Chess anyone?

The red and black hat has been accented with red plastic buttons and a single spiral stripe.

Would you share with me your black creations?

Knick Knack Box

This is one of Isela's (Purling Sprite) patterns. The colors remind me of wild rice. It will go to one of my sons for his doo dads.

BB Checks Out the Hats

I am using up yarn so I can buy more yarn. I bought some basic white and used up blue and red with some garter stitch accents. White is exciting to use.

I tried a bold white stripe with this old yarn I got at Good Will. Then I saw it had to have an i cord flower.

BB is sneaking a bite of yarn as Carmen takes pictures. I saw this Lion Brand Jiffy yarn and just had to get it , not for BB but for the delicious colors. The solid green and gold are left over yarns and make the hats look quite different from each other.

I-cord Fun

Thanks to Connie Haney of knitknotpurlcurl , I made these loom flowers and creatures with a nice easy method. Some will be Easter cards or whatever and some will be as is to hang on friend's doors. This is an easy project using left over yarn and mixing colors freely.

Can somebody send me a pattern for an icord lady bug? A bumble bee?

I Love Hats

1. This hat is for my niece in Vermont. She is bright and original and so is the hat.

2. Rob created Circus Smircus and I created this soft, warm hat for him.

So many ideas, so many hats. Different colors, brims, stitches, yarns, top accents. I love hats.
