Wild and Crazy Hats

Fantastic Oregon weather has put a crunch on warm knit hats selling at the Market. The cool cotton crocheted hats by Carmen are selling like hot dogs at the ball game.


The pictures here are some hats custom made for specific customers, 2 teen boys. I was to produce something wild and crazy.












A rainbow with worms. Enlarge these to get the details.













Dreadlocks in multi colors. Beads and braids for accent.













Stripes and an icord with colorful beads. The brim is a garter stitch using the body colors.













This last one has 4 pom poms. The little pigtail comes from the yarn used to tie each pom pom to the hat.










I had several great feelings watching these hats create themselves. Wild and crazy.

Farmer's Market

My neighbor, Carmen, taught me how to loom knit this winter. She and I are sharing a booth at our local Saturday Market. I sell funky, colorful acrylic hats and she sells cool and colorful cotton crochet hats. We both sell other creations as we think of them: headbands, scrunchies, cup cozies, bookmarks.

The response has been surprisingly successful. It is rewarding to see our creations snatched up with obvious glee by all ages.

As the season progresses so will the items for sale. We will slowly add holiday colors and late summer, autumn hues. Right now the booth is bursting with Spring. Click here to see Carmen's inspiring blog.

Proceeds have been going to, what else..... more yarn. Some folks have special ideas we try to make into final projects. Many show an interest in learning loom knitting so looms with started projects are available for them to try. It is amazing how many people have bought these looms and don't know what to do with them. We have extra chairs handy for curious hands.

Adorable model

The model is my neighbor's granddaughter, Kaja who is a fantastic natural study. She had great fun changing hats and smiling for the camera.

This is hard work on a warm day. How many more hats are there?

OK, I'll still model but I will do my own adjusting.

This one needs stretching and this next one makes me laugh.

Spring Hats

The flower is fake, it just looks good. The green grass is real. Spring has come to Oregon.









All these spring hats have some kind of funny fur mixed in with regular yarn. I love the different textures.

The last hat is toddler size. I got this weird yarn at Good Will and mixed it with brown regular It turned out fantastic, all lumpy and furry.
